Who we are

What we hold about you

This is the complete list, read from the subscriber record itself rather than described from memory. If you have an account with us we hold:

your email address, which is how an account is identified;
the name you gave at signup, if you gave one;
an active flag recording whether the subscription is live;
the date the account was created;
a random token used to sign you in from an email link.

We do not hold payment card details. We do not hold a password unless you have set one, in which case we store only a one-way hash of it and never the password itself. We do not build a profile of you, we do not track which pages you read, and we do not sell, rent or share your details with anyone for marketing.

Cookies

One cookie, and it is strictly necessary: a signed session cookie that keeps you logged in. It contains no advertising identifier and is not readable by any third party. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no tag manager on this site, which is why you are not asked to consent to any.

Other companies involved

We keep this list short deliberately, and it is complete:

Google Fonts - your browser fetches our typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads. This is the only third party your browser contacts on our pages.
Resend - our email provider, used to send digests, note alerts and sign-in links. They process your email address in order to deliver them.
Our hosting provider - the server that runs this site, which necessarily handles requests to it.

There is no advertising network, no analytics vendor, no session recording and no data broker in this list, and there is not one missing from it.

Why we hold it, and for how long

We hold your email address in order to give you access to the service you asked for and to send you what you subscribed to - that is, to perform our contract with you. We keep it for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete the account we delete the record; we do not retain a shadow copy.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy of it. Because the record is five fields, we can usually answer the same day. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not require an account action. Write to PENDING: privacy contact address. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request you may complain to the supervisory authority in PENDING: jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

If we change it, we will change the effective date at the top and say what changed. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
